Summer is here and it is hot hot HOT in Walt Disney World (and everywhere else in the U.S., for that matter). Being right in the middle of summer break, July is an easier month for many families to visit the parks.
If you find yourself in that boat, read up on how to stay cool and comfortable in Disney World on its hottest days, and continue reading on here to find out what’s coming to the parks and resorts in July. It’s turning out to be a busy month, so there is plenty to review before your upcoming vacation.
Cabins at Fort Wilderness Opens
The month of July kicks off with the grand opening of the brand-new cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. These cabins, which replaced the previous models, are part of a multi-phased opening that brings Disney Vacation Club accommodations to the campground.
Additional loops of cabins are scheduled to take place through the end of 2024.

4th of July Celebrations
The big holiday in July is, of course, Independence Day, and Disney World always goes all-out when it comes to their Fourth of July festivities. In addition to a full foodie guide with red, white, and blue-themed foods around the parks and resorts, Disney World is bringing back its annual July 4th fireworks spectaculars.
Magic Kingdom will offer special Fourth of July fireworks shows on July 3 and 4 at 9:20 PM. EPCOT’s firework display will immediately follow that evening’s performance of Luminous The Symphony of Us on July 4 only starting at 9:00 PM.

Genie+ is Replaced by Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Perhaps the biggest thing you need to know if you’re visiting Disney World in July is that Genie+ is being retired. Yes, you read that correctly. Three years after its launch, Genie+ and the Individual Lightning Lanes as we know them are being replaced by a new system called Lightning Lane passes.
These include two passes: Lightning Lane Multi Pass (replacing Genie+) and Lightning Lane Single Pass (replacing Individual Lightning Lane). These function similarly to their predecessors, with the one major difference being you can once again book your expedited queue return times in advance! Specifically, you can begin booking 7 days in advance if you’re staying on Disney World property, and 3 days in advance if you are not.
These changes roll out on July 24. If your trip coincides with July 24, you’ll be able to purchase and use Lightning Lane passes for the duration of your trip (you won’t be able to purchase Genie+ as of July 24).
