Disney Theme Park News for the Weeks of September 9 and 16, 2024

We’re back with another roundup of the latest Disney theme park news! We were on a brief hiatus last week — I was out of town and, to be honest, it was kind of a slow news week! Between the week of September 9 and September 16, however, we have a full slate of exciting updates and stories you’ll want to catch up on.

Whether you’re visiting the parks in 2024 and want to make the most of your visit or you’re in the planning phases of a 2025 trip, there’s lots of new information to cover. These stories span both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, so let’s dive right in!

Disney Vacation Club Announces 2025 Moonlight Magic Dates

Moonlight Magic is returning in 2025 for Disney Vacation Club Members, and the lineup of dates at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort have been unveiled. In addition, new dates have been added for 2024: October 24, November 21, and December 10.

Here’s the lineup of 2025 Moonlight Magic dates and their corresponding theme park:

  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: January 26 and September 1
  • EPCOT: April 30 and July 17
  • Typhoon Lagoon: May 20, June 9, and August 11
  • Disney California Adventure: February 3

Moonlight Magic is an exclusive after-hours event for Disney Vacation Club Members. Attendees can enjoy shorter wait times for attractions, rare character meet and greets, and more.

New Menu Items Debut at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe at Magic Kingdom

If you’re a foodie, you’ll definitely want to stop by Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe in Magic Kingdom on your next visit. New menu items have been released! The new menu items include a Double Chili con Queso Burger, a plant-based Grilled Masa Flatbread, Barbecue-Cheddar Seasoned French Fries, Sweet Corn Mousse, and Mexican Chocolate and Horchata Verrine.

Pecos Bill is also launching a new create-your-own bowl entree, similar to what you’ll find at Satu’li Canteen in Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom but with a twist. Guests choose their base and protein, with some of the options including Citrus Chipotle Chicken, Green Chili Pork, or Coca-Cola Cherry Braised Beef.

Important Dates and Point Chart Revealed For The Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

If you’re like me, you’ve been anxiously counting down the days until the opening of The Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The new Disney Vacation Club property is nearing completion, with a scheduled opening date of December 17, 2024.

Ahead of the opening, Disney World has unveiled new information that both DVC Members and the general public will want to know if you want to be among the first to stay at the new resort property. Sales will open to current members on October 1 and the public on October 29.

If you want to book using Vacation Points, those will become available on November 5 for new Members at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows and on November 19 for all other Members. If you’re curious as to what the point breakdown is at this new property, Disney Vacation Club has released its points chart for the various room types at Island Tower.

Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month Begins at Disney World and Disneyland

September 15 marked the start of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, which runs annually through October 15. The celebration is recognized at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort with the release of limited-time food and beverage items found around the resorts.

Fireworks Dining Package Coming to Docking Bay 7 in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort

Earlier this year, Disneyland Resort debuted “Fire of the Rising Moons,” a nighttime spectacular in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge that performs alongside the nightly fireworks show at Disneyland Park. Starting this November, guests will be able to enjoy a new fireworks dining package at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.

Shared by theme park journalist Scott Gustin, the package will include food, beverage, and a viewing area for Fire of the Rising Moons. More details will be unveiled as we get closer to its November launch.

Details Unveiled For New Skating Show at Disney Jollywood Nights

Disney Jollywood Nights will return for its second holiday season at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The after hours event features exclusive dining events, entertainment, character meet and greets, and more. The vibe at Jollywood Nights is totally different from other holiday parties at Disney World, evoking the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

New this year at Jollywood Nights is Glisten!, a skating spectacular that will star a cast of champion ice skaters and a sweeping score featuring beloved Disney songs. Along with the skaters, guests will be able to take in festive projections on the Chinese Theater in the park. Performances will take place during each Jollywood Night event at 8:15 PM, 9:15 PM, 10:30 PM, 11:15 PM and 12:15 AM. Disney Jollywood Nights will take place on select evenings November 9 through December 21. Tickets are on sale now.
