What We Know About Magic Kingdom’s New Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern
There’s a lot going on at Walt Disney World in 2025. From a new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom to the third iteration of Test Track, both launching this summer, there’s going to be plenty of new things to experience if you haven’t been to the parks in the last year.

There’s also some new dining experiences on deck for 2025 as well. GEO-82, an adult-exclusive lounge, will open at EPCOT on June 4. For families traveling with kids that want a new spot to grab a bite to eat, there’s even a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed tavern coming to Magic Kingdom.
The Beak and Barrel Coming to Magic Kingdom Later in 2025
Disney just announced the official name of this new Pirates-inspired space: The Beak and Barrel. The beak, of course, is in reference to the Barker Bird, a famed Disney Audio-Animatronic that once greeted guests as they made their way through the queue of Pirates of the Caribbean at Magic Kingdom. You can even spot the silhouette of a bird in the tavern’s logo:

As the story goes, The Beak and Barrel was founded by Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, a rumrunner, and her first mate, Rummy (Barker Bird). You’ll be able to spot Rummy from his roost high atop the bar.

Is Rummy the actual Barker Bird? Not exactly. According to Disney, “Rummy bears a striking resemblance to the original Barker Bird” as seen in the Pirates of the Caribbean queue. So it sounds like Disney is taking inspiration from the O.G. Barker Bird in creating this new character, Rummy.

The Beak and Barrel Experience
Unlike GEO-82, which is exclusive to guests ages 21 and older, The Beak and Barrel will be a family-friendly experience with a menu for “pirates of all ages.” The menu will also feature cocktails for adults that are of age.
According to concept art, it looks like The Beak and Barrel will have two seating space: The Mess and Captains’ Quarters. The Mess will feature long tables that span the room (I’m thinking communal seating here) and a bar that anchors one side of the room. This is where you’ll spot Rummy as he hobbles along the bar’s ledge, greeting guests.

Captains’ Quarters will have a different vibe, where guests can experience “a taste of the finer life.” This room will be adorned with fine artwork and drapery, albeit battered and torn from previous pirate encounters. Above the fireplace mantel, you’ll spot five miniature ships in glass bottles that come alive and “engage in a fearsome battle.”

One important planning detail for this space: According to theme park journalist Scott Gustin, experiencing The Beak and Barrel will be “limited to 45 minutes per party.” This is similar to the time limit policy at Oga’s Cantina in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park. An opening date has not been announced at this time.
Be sure to keep an eye on this space as I’ll be updating you with more information as we approach the opening of The Beak and Barrel, expected to take place in late 2025.
