You will want to be aware of when spring break rolls around each year because it always results in heavier crowds and longer lines across the theme parks. If you’re planning a Walt Disney World vacation during spring break, keep on reading.

When is Spring Break at Walt Disney World

Because schools and universities have different spring break calendars, Walt Disney World’s spring break spans March and April. In general, you can expect spring break crowds to appear around the second week of March – we’ll chat more about crowds in a second.

From there, it depends somewhat on the Easter calendar. Because the day Easter falls changes annually, spring break can stretch for longer or shorter periods. You can expect spring break to wrap up sometime between mid to late April.

Note that Disney World does not have any official dates or weeks where it “observes” spring break.

What to Pack For Walt Disney World During Spring Break

Fortunately, I believe there isn’t much you need to do differently during spring break than you would do throughout the year at Walt Disney World. Put differently, spring is one of the “easier” seasons to pack and dress for at Disney World.

You’ll definitely want to pack for the weather (which we discuss below), but you don’t need to make a ton of extra suitcase space available for winter accessories or rain gear.

Walt Disney World Spring Break Crowds

As I mentioned earlier, spring break sees an uptick in crowds at Walt Disney World. In fact, spring break is now considered one of the busiest seasons at Walt Disney World, with the majority of students off from school at some point in March or April.

Because of this, you can expect above-average crowds starting around the second week of March. This means longer wait times for attractions and more congested walkways throughout the parks. Consider buying Lightning Lane Multi Pass on the days when you want to ride as many rides as possible.

Spring break crowds peak the week before and after Easter, as those are generally the two weeks that most schools have off. After the holiday, the crowds should start to taper off before reaching more manageable levels starting in early May.

Walt Disney World Spring Break Weather

Despite the heavier crowds at Walt Disney World during spring break, there is some good news. In general, March and April have very pleasant weather. Temperatures are noticeably warmer than the winter months, but the summer heat and humidity have yet to arrive. For many, Orlando weather this time of year is a nice change of pace from the doldrums of March and April elsewhere in the U.S.

According to Weather Spark, the average high temperature in Orlando for March is 77 degrees, while the average low is 59. In April, the average high is 82 degrees, while the average low is 63.

You will also find a lower chance of rain in March and April. This doesn’t mean you won’t see any rain, but your odds of multiple rainy days or total wash-outs are far lower than, say, the summer months. We’re talking, on average, seven days of rain in March or April as opposed to 20 days of rain in July or August.

Walt Disney World Spring Break Events

Multiple spring-themed events are happening around Walt Disney World in March and April. The flagship event is the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, running in 2025 from March 5 through June 2. So, if you’re visiting during your spring break, you are sure to enjoy the perks of being in EPCOT for the Flower & Garden Festival.

During this festival, the park comes alive with colorful floral displays and Disney character topiaries. The Flower & Garden Festival features Outdoor Kitchens that sell festive food and beverage items. On select evenings, the Garden Rocks Concert Series takes place in the American Adventure Pavilion with different musical acts.

As you get closer to Easter, you’ll also see cleverly hidden Easter eggs painted to look like various Disney characters hidden around the park, and families can participate in a scavenger hunt to find them all.

The month of April also includes the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend. If you’re a runner, this is a great way to get your miles in while running through the Disney theme parks. runDisney registration happens months in advance (more info is available on runDisney’s website). If you aren’t running, you can still cheer athletes on along the race routes.

Also, even if you are not running, you’ll want to know when the Springtime Surprise Weekend occurs. In 2025, it will take place from April 3 through 6. That weekend, you can expect some traffic delays in the early morning hours – in general, the shorter races wrap up before guests head to the parks, but longer races like the 10-Miler can cause some delays.
