What’s Happening At Walt Disney World In March

EPCOT FLOWER AND GARDEN FESTIVAL

The biggest event that kicks off in the month of March at Walt Disney World is the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival. EPCOT’s second festival of the calendar year is all about everything colorful and floral. The park comes alive with beautiful flower arrangements and character topiaries.

If you’re hungry, the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival is home to Outdoor Kitchens serving an array of food and beverage items. Unlike the Food and Wine Festival or Festival of the Holidays, the foods served at Flower and Garden embrace all things spring. Think flavors like honey and citrus.

In the evening, the American Adventure Pavilion gets rocking with the Garden Rocks Concert Series. The lineup for this March’s concerts is as follows:

  • March 7 and 8: Tommy DeCarlo, former lead singer of Boston
  • March 9 and 10: Air Supply – 50th Anniversary Celebration
  • March 14 and 15: Blue October
  • March 16 and 17: Rick Springfield
  • March 21 and 22: Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone
  • March 23 and 24: 38 Special
  • March 28 and 29: Jason Scheff, longtime lead vocalist of Chicago
  • March 30 and 31: To Be Announced – Check Back Soon

WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

March is Women’s History Month, and Walt Disney World observes this annual celebration with limited-time food and beverage items around the parks and resorts. Available all month long, these items celebrate beloved Disney heroines as well as culinary leaders at Walt Disney World. Be sure to check these limited-time items out if you’re visiting Walt Disney World in March!

ST. PATRICK’S DAY AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

March doesn’t have any major holidays, but it does have St. Patrick’s Day on March 17! No matter how much you lean into the St. Patrick’s Day vibes each year, there’s no denying that this holiday always has a certain level of excitement as it ushers in the spring season. Walt Disney World observes St. Patrick’s Day each year with an array of limited-time food and beverage items around the parks and resorts.

You may also spot a few limited-time merchandise items like t-shirts or Mickey Mouse plush, but these are usually few and far between. Pack your green t-shirt if you’re visiting Walt Disney World over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday!

Walt Disney World In March Weather

In general, the weather at Walt Disney World in March is very pleasant. If you live up north and are looking for warmer temperatures towards the end of winter, Central Florida is an ideal place to be. According to Weather Spark, the average high in Orlando for March is 77 and the average low is 59.

March is definitely when we start to see a departure from those cooler winter temperatures, but it’s nowhere close to summer weather yet. Cold weather can still creep in — I was in Disney Wold in March one year where morning lows were in the 40s. You may still experience some warm days, so you will want to keep a close eye on the forecast leading up to your trip. My advice is to pack for both cooler and warmer days (basically, dress in layers).

Tips For Visiting Walt Disney World In March

PREPARE FOR SPRING BREAK CROWDS

March is when we start to see schools take time off for spring break. The first few days to first week in March is generally safe, but starting around March 7, you can expect to see the crowds tick up. By mid- to late-March, expect busier than average days at all of the theme parks.

Easter is when spring break crowds usually peak, and that’s not until April 20 this year. So, March shouldn’t see the worst of spring break crowds, but you should still be prepared for longer wait times and busier parks overall.

CHECK OUT THE CHARACTER TOPIARIES AT EPCOT’S FLOWER AND GARDEN FESTIVAL

In my humble opinion, the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival is the prettiest of all of the EPCOT festivals. The floral arrangements and topiaries are stunning and are worth taking the time to check out during your day at EPCOT. The topiaries are inspired by beloved Disney characters — see if you can find your favorite! There’s usually one or two new topiaries that appear each year, which keeps things fresh and interesting.

CHECK THE CALENDAR FOR THE GARDEN ROCKS CONCERT SERIES

EPCOT brings in some really neat musical acts for the Garden Rocks Concert Series. If there’s an act you’re interested in seeing, I highly suggest making a dining reservation with the Garden Rocks Concert Series dining package. These packages include a meal reservation at participating EPCOT restaurants along with a reserved seating section for one of that evening’s concerts. The standby lines can get long, so this is an easy way to make sure you get a seat and a great meal.
