Josh D’Amaro is certainly making a splash on his first day as Chief Executive Officer of the Walt Disney Company. To continue this expansion, D’Amaro shared an exciting piece of news concerning its ninth ship. We now know the name, theme, and a more precise opening timeline of the next Disney Cruise Line ship!

Disney Cruise Line announces name and theme of its ninth ship

Josh D’Amaro announced at the Annual Meeting of Shareholders that the name of the ninth Disney Cruise Line ship will be the Disney Believe! The Disney Believe will be the fourth Wish-class ship, following the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny.

The ship’s theme will be focused on “promise and possibilities.” In an article that accompanied the announcement, Disney noted that featured characters on the Disney Believe are “characters who believe in themselves and their dreams.” A sizzle reel was released with the announcement that showed clips from many films under the Disney umbrella, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Tangled, Inside Out, Encanto, and, what caught my attention the most, The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Disney Believe opening timeline revealed

In addition to a name and theme, we learned more about the opening timeline of the Disney Believe. The ship had a previously-announced completion scheduled for 2027, but we now know a slightly closer timeline. The Disney Believe is scheduled to be delivered in late 2027.

“Late” 2027 likely means the fourth quarter of 2027, which would mean a debut in October, November, or December. This would be on track with recent ship launches. The Disney Destiny had its maiden voyage in November 2025, and the Disney Treasure had its maiden voyage in December 2024.
