Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa at Walt Disney World has been going through a series of renovations over the past several years, including a refreshed look to its restaurants Narcoossee’s and Citricos and a newly reopened 1900 Park Fare.

Another element of the resort is finally getting its long-awaited refurbishment: the lobby.
Even if you’ve never stayed at the Grand Floridian, its lobby is one of those iconic Walt Disney World spaces that you’ve probably wandered through once or twice. During the holidays, it transforms into a winter wonderland with the fan-favorite gingerbread house and soaring Christmas tree.

The lobby has already undergone some minor updates, but starting Monday, April 14, significant work will begin that will truly change its appearance. Disney just released a first look at the concept art for the new lobby space:

If your eyes, like mine, were immediately drawn to the left hand side, I’m here to tell you that you aren’t seeing things: a brand-new lobby bar is coming to the Grand Floridian. The lobby bar is inspired by the resort’s iconic birdcage. In addition to the bar, new carpet will be installed and refreshes will be made to the staircase and front desk. Some elements will remain in tact, including the Victorian cage-style elevator and piano.

Work is expected to last through 2025. As a result, the gingerbread house will not return during the holiday season this year. Other elements of the resort are expected to remain available to all guests, including all pools and dining locations.

As is the case with any construction project, be aware that your 2025 stay at the Grand Floridian could be impacted by these refurbishments. Be sure to follow along as we cover more of the latest developments around Walt Disney World, especially those that may impact your upcoming vacation!
