Greetings from Anaheim! I’m in California this week to attend D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. After spending the day at Disneyland Resort, I’m ready for a weekend filled with Disney theme park surprises and general good vibes. I’m just happy to be here!
As far as this week’s news is concerned, I’m going to exclude any of the major announcements from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in this roundup and focus on the other news items we heard this week. I’ll have a big breakdown of D23 announcements in another article, so be on the lookout for that!
D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event Kicks Off Three-Day Expo
I know I said I wouldn’t include any news from the expo, but the expo itself is a news item worth sharing! D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event kicked off on Friday, August 9 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The three-day convention brings together Disney fans from around the world to celebrate the company’s past, present, and future.
D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is also a major news weekend for the company, with the year’s biggest announcements from the film studios, theme parks, and more. If you’re at all curious as to what Disney has up their sleeves when it comes to their movies, parks, cruise ships, etc., you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on D23!

Halloween Season and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Begins at Walt Disney World
August 9 marks the beginning of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom! The event runs on select evenings through October 31.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party features limited-time food items, party-exclusive entertainment including the Boo-To-You Parade, and plenty of opportunities to stock up on Halloween candy. We may only be in the first half of August, but over in Walt Disney World, Halloween is officially in full swing!

Foodie Guide Released For Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort
Walt Disney World isn’t the only resort getting into the swing of things for Halloween. The spooky season is quickly approaching at Disneyland Resort, too! Disneyland’s Halloween Time starts on August 23, and a MASSIVE Foodie Guide was released this week in anticipation of the season.
In my opinion, the Halloween treats at Disneyland Resort are the best seasonal food offerings at any domestic Disney theme park, so I’m really excited for this one. Oogie Boogie Bash also kicks off on August 23 and will have its own party-exclusive treats.

Disney Treasure Reaches Important Milestone Ahead of Maiden Voyage
We also have a small but very important update to share from Disney Cruise Line. This week, the Disney Treasure reached a critical step in its construction journey: The Float Out! This step marks the completion of a ship’s exterior.
While interior work is still being complete, The Float Out is an exciting step closer to the first voyage aboard The Disney Treasure. The Disney Treasure sails on its maiden voyage on December 21, 2024.

Disney Reveals Cast Member Costumes For Disney Treasure
Okay, I know I said I wasn’t going to share any D23 announcements in this roundup, but one story snuck in and I figured I’d include it here. On the first day of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Cast Member costumes were revealed for the Disney Treasure. We have a first look at the costumes being worn at Haunted Mansion Parlor and Periscope Pub:
The costumes for Periscope Pub are inspired by the crew uniforms worn in the 1954 film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
