Disney Theme Park News For the Week of April 28, 2025
We’re chugging along through 2025 — just like that, it’s (gonna be) May! Another Friday means it’s time for another roundup of the latest Disney theme park news.

May is a busy month for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. The latter is gearing up for the start of the 70th Anniversary Celebration, which starts on May 16 and runs through the summer of 2026. Walt Disney World is launching into a busy summer season. Before we get to all of that, we need to catch up on this week’s stories, some of which have to do with all of the upcoming festivities.
Menu and Opening Date Revealed For New Adult-Exclusive Lounge at Disney World
The next big opening at Walt Disney World is GEO-82, the new Spaceship Earth Lounge located in EPCOT. It was first announced at last year’s D23 Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California.

This week, we learned that GEO-82 will officially open on June 4. We also got a first look at the food and beverage items that will be available for purchase in this adult-exclusive lounge.

GEO-82 will offer a new spot to watch the nightly fireworks spectacular, with the best window seats reserved for guests that purchase the fireworks viewing package, complete with desserts and beverages.

Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration begins on May 16 and runs through the summer of 2026. In addition to new attractions like Walt Disney — A Magical Life, there will be plenty of limited-time food and beverage options available for purchase. Nothing says a Disney celebration like a specialty cupcake!

This week, Disneyland released its Foodie Guide for the 70th Anniversary Celebration, with specialty menu items available across the resort. These will be available starting on May 16. There will be over 70 new goodies to check out (what an apt amount of items!), so be sure to keep your eyes peeled on your next Disneyland visit.

Typhoon Lagoon Opens For the Summer Season at Walt Disney World
This week, Disney World did its usual switcher-oo with its water parks, closing Blizzard Beach and opening Typhoon Lagoon. But in just a few short weeks, that will soon change for the first time in several years!

Blizzard Beach will re-open on May 21, which means both water parks will be open and available to guests this summer. Don’t forget that if you have an upcoming Walt Disney World vacation in 2025 and you are staying on Disney property, you and your party can enter a water park for free on your check in date.
