Disney World is opening 350 brand-new cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort this summer. More to the point, the first guests will be welcomed to these new accommodations starting on July 1, 2024. Another big change is that the cabins will now be a part of the Disney Vacation Club portfolio. DVC members can buy new contracts with the Cabins at Fort Wilderness, but don’t worry – the cabins will also be available to book for non-members.
These cabins will bring a modern touch to Fort Wilderness while offering the same cozy vibes that guests have enjoyed for decades. Let’s review all of the must-know info if you’re interested in booking one of these cabins on your next Disney World vacation!
WHAT ARE THE NEW CABINS LIKE?
The cabins can sleep up to six guests, and yes – some of the cabins will still be dog-friendly! The one-bedroom cabins come with a fully equipped kitchen and living room with a 65-inch TV and an additional pull-out queen-size bed.
In the main bedroom, you’ll find a queen-size bed, a twin-size bunk bed, and a second 55-inch TV. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to look out over your own patio. Speaking of outdoor space, each cabin comes with a charcoal grill.
The cabins are broken up into several loops, and the first loop will welcome guests on July 1. The second loop will open up later in July, with additional loops opening throughout the year.

WHAT ELSE CAN I ENJOY AT FORT WILDERNESS RESORT?
Fort Wilderness Resort is a not-so-hidden gem at Disney World. While it is not a traditional hotel, it offers many of the same great amenities and then some. If you love the great outdoors and you want to add a sense of adventure to your vacation, this is a great spot to check out! Aside from the cabins, it offers campsites where you can pitch a tent or park your RV.
Fort Wilderness is home to Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, a beloved dinner theater experience. It features all-you-care-to-enjoy food, complete with comfort food classics like fried chicken, mac and cheese, and strawberry shortcake. Head outdoors after the sun sets for Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-Along, a nightly activity featuring s’mores, a singing cowboy, and a movie under the stars.
You can also stop by Tri-Circle-D Ranch, home to over 90 horses. Tours of the barn are offered at no charge. The barn is also where you’ll visit if you want to take part in some horseback riding. That’s right, Fort Wilderness has quite a few outdoor recreational activities to enjoy. Aside from horseback riding, there’s everything from catch-and-release fishing to kayak and canoe rentals.
One of my personal favorite details about Fort Wilderness Resort is all of the fun decorating guests take part in around the fall and winter months. Whether it’s Halloween or Christmas, the campsites and cabins come alive with lights, lawn inflatables, pumpkins, wreathes, and more. Also, be sure to stick around for the Halloween and Holiday Golf Cart Parades!
